JCN Debuts Series of Ads on Supreme Court: "America Deserves Better"

July 11, 2005

Washington, D.C. -- Judicial Confirmation Network today launched the first in a series of advertisements to highlight recent decisions of the U.S. Supreme Court that have "violated the Constitution and undermined our democracy," said JCN executive director Gary Marx.

The first ad, released today on the Internet, describes the recent decision in which the Court allowed New London, Connecticut to seize the private homes of local citizens and turn them over to developers to build office complexes and shopping malls in order to generate higher tax revenues for the city.

Marx said that "each of the ads will highlight a bad decision made by a liberal majority on the Court, then a quote from Justice Scalia or Justice Thomas about the error that the liberal majority made in the case."

Each ad concludes with the theme, "America Deserves Better." Marx said this theme points to "President Bush's promise that any nominee he selects for the Supreme Court will be someone of outstanding intellect, experience, integrity, and faithfulness to the Constitution, in the mold of Justices Scalia and Thomas."

Topics of ads to be released in the coming weeks include the Supreme Court's use of international and foreign law to displace the U.S. Constitution as the ultimate legal authority in America, the Court's erosion of religious liberty, the Court's endorsement of racial preferences in violation of the color-blind Constitution, and others.

Marx said that JCN is coordinating the Internet launch with its 70 coalition members to reach over 10 million involved citizens.

In addition, JCN will purchase "banner" ads on websites such as The Drudge Report, Rush Limbaugh, National Review, The Weekly Standard, The Washington Times, and The Washington Post. To view the ad, click HERE. To hear the ad (mp3 file version), please click HERE.

The Judicial Confirmation Network is an organization of citizens joined to support the confirmation of highly qualified judges and Justices. In addition, JCN works to ensure that the confirmation process for all judicial nominees is fair and that every nominee sent to the full Senate receives an up or down vote.
