Does Senator Sherrod Brown Have Amnesia?

Sherrod Brown (D-OH) is turning on his colleague, Senator Jeff Sessions, who has become the latest target for the left’s smear campaign against anyone nominated by President-elect Trump. Brown joined the campaign last week, venting to Politico:

They’ve been rewarded for stealing a Supreme Court justice. We’re going to help them confirm their nominees, many of whom are disqualified? It’s not obstruction, it’s not partisan, it’s just a duty to find out what they’d do in these jobs.

He also commented that Sessions was “was dissed by the Senate once for his racism.”
Brown’s posturing is pure politics. He has been joined at the hip with Sessions for more than six years, as the two have worked trade issues since 2010. The two senators have also been fellow members of the Senate Steel Caucus, working together on issues ranging from prescription drug monitoring at the VA to sleeping bag exports and tariffs. In 2013, Senator Brown even bragged about co-sponsoring a bill with Sessions that would have targeted currency manipulation. The dynamic duo has been pushing that issue together ever since. Has Brown forgotten all that? And would Brown, a staunch liberal, have been willing to work so closely with someone he actually thought was a “racist?”

No, Brown knows perfectly well that Sessions is a decent, honest man who cares deeply about all people, no matter their race. And Brown doesn’t have to “find out” what Sessions would do as Attorney General; he already knows that Sessions is tough, fair, and committed to the rule of law.
