Why Won’t Hillary Say Whether She’ll Re-Nominate Garland?

By Carrie Severino | September 9, 2016

If Hillary Clinton won the White House in November, would she re-nominate Merrick Garland to the still-open seat on the Supreme Court? Nobody seems to know.

Bloomberg News raised the question again Wednesday. Clinton has yet to answer. In fact, she has been so quiet about her intentions for potential Court nominees that several left-wing groups proposed their own list of desired nominees back in August, but Clinton had no comment. Now, we know that Clinton’s team has been planning the second Clinton presidency for years now, so the odds that they don’t already have an internal list of candidates are roughly zero. Very suspicious.
It’s time for Clinton to come clean with the American people. Voters deserve to know whether Clinton would appoint Supreme Court justices like Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan or whether she’d appoint constitutionalists, and voters deserve to know who they are.  Clinton’s principal opponent disclosed his own list months ago. What is Clinton hiding from the voters?
