“Today’s decision is a victory for checks and balances against an out-of-control president. Although the president himself admitted that he couldn’t change the immigration laws, he tried to do it anyway for political reasons. President Obama’s lawless efforts to legalize millions of illegal immigrants through sheer chutzpah and deception will go down in constitutional history as an ignominious violation of the separation of powers. Make no mistake: If the Senate had confirmed Merrick Garland to the Supreme Court, this case would have eviscerated the Constitution’s checks and balances.”
